||Richard McCarthy of Peterborough, Ontario
||On September 26, 2013, four Canada Elections Act charges were sworn in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough. The charges were related to an investigation into events that took place during the 40th general election in 2008.
||In November 2014, Richard McCarthy was convicted of:
- incurring election expenses in an amount more than the election expenses limit; and
- providing the Chief Electoral Officer an electoral campaign return that he knew or ought reasonably to have known contained a material statement that was false or misleading.

||Two months’ conditional sentence (house arrest) and one year probation.
