Charge no. 1

Between August 4, 2015, and January 29, 2016, David Berlin and Daniel Berlin, at or near the City of Toronto, did, by deceit, falsehood, or other means, defraud the public of a sum in excess of $5,000 by providing an electoral campaign return that contained documents that were false and by so doing thereby committed an offence contrary to paragraph 380(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

Charge no. 2

On or about February 1, 2017, Daniel Berlin at or near the City of Toronto, did obstruct, hinder, or knowingly make a statement that he knew was false or misleading to John Dickson, a person acting under the direction of the Commissioner of Canada Elections, while that person was exercising the powers, duties and functions conferred or imposed by the Commissioner under the Canada Elections Act, contrary to section 482.1 of the Canada Elections Act, thereby committing an offence contrary to section 482.1 of the Canada Elections Act.
