Accused: James DiFiore
Offence: James DiFiore was found guilty of contravening paragraph 111(b), thereby committing an offence under subsection 487(1) of the Canada Elections Act.
Facts: On June 28, 2004, wilfully applied to be included on a list of electors in one polling division while being already included on a list of electors for another polling division at the same election, in the electoral district of Trinity–Spadina.
Sentencing Date: February 11, 2008.
Sentence: $250 fine

Accused: Wajid Khan, candidate for the Liberal Party in the electoral district of Mississauga–Streetsville (Ontario) during the 38th general election (June 28, 2004).
Offence: Wajid Khan pled guilty to contravening subsection 443(1), thereby committing an offence under paragraph 497(1)(s) of the Canada Elections Act.
Facts: Wajid Khan incurred election expenses for his campaign in the 38th federal general election of $109,112.04 that exceeded the election expenses limit of $77,923.66, established in accordance with the Canada Elections Act by $31,188.38.
Sentencing Date: February 1, 2008.
Sentence: $500 fine

Accused: 965694 Ontario Inc., carrying on business under the name of Dufferin Mazda.
Offence: 965694 Ontario Inc. pled guilty to contravening subsection 438(4), thereby committing an offence under paragraph 497(3)(n) of the Canada Elections Act.
Facts: Dufferin Mazda unlawfully paid electoral campaign expenses of Wajid Khan, a candidate in the 38th general election (June 28, 2004) in the amount of $89,388.17.
Sentencing Date: February 1, 2008.
Sentence: $2,000 fine

Accused: Khalid Sagheer, Chief Executive Officer of the Mississauga–Streetsville Federal Liberal Association for the 38th general election (June 28, 2004).
Offence: Khalid Sagheer pled guilty to contravening subsection 438(4), thereby committing an offence under paragraph 497(3)(n) of the Canada Elections Act.
Facts: Khalid Sagheer unlawfully paid electoral campaign expenses of Wajid Khan, a candidate in the 38th general election (June 28, 2004) in the amount of $42,302.72 from the bank account of the Mississauga–Streetsville Federal Liberal Association.
Sentencing Date: February 1, 2008.
Sentence: $400 fine

Accused: Louise Foisy, candidate for the New Democratic Party in the electoral district of Lévis–Bellechasse (Quebec) during the June 28, 2004, general election.
Offence: Failure to send to her official agent the declaration concerning the electoral campaign return within four months of polling day.
Facts: Louise Foisy was found guilty of contravening paragraph 451(1)(e) and subsection 451(5), thereby committing an offence under paragraph 497(1)(v) of the Canada Elections Act.
Sentencing Date: October 31, 2006.
Sentence: A $50 fine and the requirement to file the declaration concerning the electoral campaign return within six months. Before handing down the sentence, the judge took the special circumstances of the accused into consideration.

Accused: Nancy Bigot, official agent of Louise Foisy, candidate for the New Democratic Party in the electoral district of Lévis–Bellechasse (Quebec) during the June 28, 2004, general election.
Offence: Failure to file the electoral campaign return and supporting documents with the Chief Electoral Officer within four months of polling day.
Facts: Nancy Bigot was found guilty of contravening subsections 451(1) and (4), thereby committing an offence under paragraph 497(1)(u) of the Canada Elections Act.
Sentencing Date: October 31, 2006.
Sentence: A $50 fine and the requirement to file the electoral campaign return within six months. Before handing down the sentence, the judge took the special circumstances of the accused into consideration.
