Key facts of violation
As the official agent for Tracey Sparrowhawk, the People’s Party of Canada candidate in the electoral district of Regina–Qu'Appelle during the 43rd federal general election held on October 21, 2019, Tanna Chase was required, by virtue of subsection 477.59(7) of the Canada Elections Act (Act), to provide the Candidate’s Electoral Campaign Return and other required documents (Return) to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), within four months after polling day.
The deadline to submit the Return was February 21, 2020. Elections Canada’s records confirm that it was provided to the CEO on April 23, 2021, 427 days after the deadline.
There are therefore reasonable grounds to believe that Tanna Chase failed to provide the Return within four months of polling day, as required by subsection 477.59(7) of the Act.
