Key facts of violation

As the official agent for the electoral campaign of Chelsea Hillier, the People’s Party of Canada candidate in the electoral district of Elgin-Middlesex-London during the 44th federal general election (held on September 20, 2021), Travis Morris was required, under subsection 477.59(1) of the Canada Elections Act (the Act), to provide the Candidate's Electoral Campaign Return and other required documents (Return) to the Chief Electoral Officer, outlining the financing and expenses for the candidate's electoral campaign.

An extension of the filing deadline was requested and granted by the Chief Electoral Officer until March 21, 2022. As of June 14, 2023, Elections Canada's records showed that the Return had not been submitted.

There are therefore reasonable grounds to believe that Travis Morris failed to provide the Return, as required by subsection 477.59(1) of the Act.
