As the candidate for the New Democratic Party in the electoral district of Etobicoke North during the 44th federal general election, Cecil Peter received 10.43% of the votes cast. Paragraph 477.1(2)(c) of the Canada Elections Act (the Act) requires that a candidate appoint an auditor without delay when they have received 10% or more of the votes cast in their electoral district.

As a result, Cecil Peter was required by subsection 477.1(2) of the Act to appoint an auditor without delay. Elections Canada’s records confirmed that, as of July 12, 2023, an auditor had not been appointed.

There are therefore reasonable grounds to believe that Cecil Peter failed to appoint an auditor, as required by subsection 477.1(2) of the Act.
