As the Official Agent for the electoral campaign of Payton Ashe, a Green Party of Canada candidate during the 43rd federal general election held on October 21, 2019, Nazlie Najafi was required, by virtue of subsection 477.59(7) of the Act, to file the Candidate's Electoral Campaign Return (Return), within four months after polling day. The deadline to submit the Return was February 21, 2020.

Elections Canada has confirmed that the Return was submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer on July 17, 2020, 147 days after the deadline. There are therefore reasonable grounds to believe that Nazlie Najafi failed to provide the Return within four months after polling day, as required by subsection 477.59(7).
