Key facts of violation

As the official agent for the electoral campaign of Steve Côté, candidate for the Rhinoceros Party of Canada in the electoral district of Sherbrooke during the 43rd general election held on October 21, 2019, Kim Beaudoin was required, under subsection 477.59(7) of the Act, to file the Candidate's Electoral Campaign Return (Return) and required documents within four months of polling day. An extension to the filing deadline was requested and granted by the Chief Electoral Officer and the new deadline for filing the Report was June 30, 2020.

Elections Canada confirmed that the Return was submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer on April 27, 2021, 301 days after the deadline. There are therefore reasonable grounds to believe that Kim Beaudoin was in violation of the requirement to provide the Return within four months of polling day, as required by subsection 477.59(7).
