Key facts of violation

As the official agent for the electoral campaign of Charlotte Larocque, the Conservative Party of Canada candidate in the electoral district of Churchill–Keewatinook Aski during the 44th federal general election (held on September 20, 2021), June Chu was required by subsection 477.59(1) of the Canada Elections Act (the Act) to provide the Candidate's Electoral Campaign Return and other required documents (Return) to the Chief Electoral Officer, outlining the financing and expenses for the candidate's electoral campaign.

As an extension was granted by the Chief Electoral Officer, the deadline to submit the Return was March 7, 2022. Elections Canada's records show that as of May 2, 2023, the Return had still not been submitted.

There are therefore reasonable grounds to believe that June Chu failed to provide the Return, as required by subsection 477.59(1) of the Act.
