Key facts of violation
As the financial agent for Éric Forget, a contestant in the electoral district of Terrebonne during the August 2021 Liberal Party of Canada nomination contest, Caroline Forget was required, under subsection 476.75(1) of the Canada Elections Act (the Act), to provide the Chief Electoral Officer with the Nomination Campaign Return and other required documents (Return).
The deadline to submit the Return was January 20, 2022. Elections Canada’s records confirm that on May 31, 2023, the complete Return had not been provided to the Chief Electoral Officer.
Therefore, there are reasonable grounds to believe that Caroline Forget did not provide the Return, as required under subsection 476.75(1) of the Act.
